What to put on your wedding website: a Malaysian checklist

TL;DR

  • Put the five things guests look for in the first screen: whose wedding, which day, what time, where, and how to reply.
  • Give each event its own line with start and makan times, and add both a Google Maps and a Waze link plus parking notes.
  • Keep home addresses, the full guest list and unlisted phone numbers off the page. The link will be forwarded to strangers.

Wondering what to include on a wedding website? The must-haves are your names and date, a schedule with times for each event, the venue with map links, the dress code, and an RSVP form with a reply-by date. Everything else is nice to have.

Wedding website checklist for Malaysian couples

Section What to write Skip it if
Names and date Both full names as guests know them, date in words, day of the week. Never skip.
Event schedule Each event on its own line: akad or nikah, tea ceremony, reception, with start and makan times. You have one event and one time.
Venue Full address, a Google Maps link and a Waze link, where to park. Never skip.
Dress code and colour theme One line. "Traditional or smart casual, avoid white" is enough. You truly do not mind.
RSVP with a reply-by date Name, number of pax, which day. Deadline: two weeks before the caterer needs numbers. Compare RSVP options here. Under 30 guests and you know them all.
Meal and kids questions Vegetarian, no beef, halal-only, allergies. Ask if children are coming and their ages. The venue serves one set menu.
Angpao or duit raya A DuitNow QR and bank details for guests who cannot attend. Keep it low on the page. Your family finds it improper.
Story and photos Three short paragraphs and six to twelve photos. You are private people. Names and date still work.
Accommodation Two or three hotels near the venue and any group rate you arranged. Everyone is local.
Contact person per family One name and number from each side for guests to call. Never skip.
FAQ Children, gifts, photography during the ceremony, whether plus-ones are fine. You covered it above.

What to include on a wedding website first

Guests open the link on their phone, usually from a WhatsApp forward, and they want five things fast. Whose wedding, which day, what time, where, and how to reply. Put those in the top screen before any photo slideshow. If a guest has to scroll past your love story to find the venue, the story is in the wrong place.

What Malaysian guests actually ask

Family gets the akad or tea ceremony, and friends get the dinner. Guests ask which day they are invited to and what time the makan starts. State both plainly for each group.

Parking comes next: hotel validation, a hall lot, or should guests Grab in? Then kids. Say yes, no, or "welcome at the reception" so nobody has to ask the couple directly.

The last question is where to bank in. Overseas relatives and colleagues who cannot come still want to give. A QR code and account name at the bottom of the page answers it without a single message.

What to leave off

Your wedding link will be forwarded to people you have never met. Keep home addresses off. Do not publish the full guest list or the seating chart. Leave out phone numbers of relatives who did not agree to be listed. Skip anything you would be uncomfortable seeing in a stranger's group chat. Our FAQ covers what goes into a done-for-you site.

Which version should you build?

  • Under 30 guests, one event: a WhatsApp message with the address and time is enough.
  • Under 100 guests, one venue: a free builder or e-card with RSVP. See what a wedding website costs in Malaysia.
  • Over 100 guests, two events, or a table plan: a proper site with a guest console, which is what Convya builds.

Frequently asked questions

What should a wedding website include?

Your names and date, the schedule for each event, the venue with map links, dress code, and an RSVP form with a reply-by date. Add angpao details, photos and hotel tips if they apply.

Should I put angpao or bank details on my wedding website?

Yes, in a small section at the bottom. Guests who cannot attend often still want to give, and a DuitNow QR saves the awkward WhatsApp ask.

How many photos should a wedding website have?

Six to twelve is plenty. Guests want the details, not a full album. Save the rest for a guest album after the day.

What should I leave off my wedding website?

Home addresses, the full guest list, phone numbers of family who did not agree to be listed, and anything you would not want a stranger to read. The link gets forwarded.
